Who is David Alan Lucas?
David Alan Lucas is a voice over talent, a writer, and a martial artist. David’s journey into voice acting began with a love of old time radio dramas. As a child, he first caught the airing of the Star Wars Radio Dramas in 1981. This launched an interest and love affair with the idea of voice acting. However, it was not until later that David would explore this world, first taking a voice over course with Clayton Studios. After the course, David continues to improve his craft under a multi-award nominated voice actress, taking courses with professional organizations and he is working on being able to perform in Spanish.
David performs commercial, narrative, and animation voice over.
As a writer, David Alan Lucas has been published in short fiction, poetry, and non-fiction. He focuses his fiction writing on telling stores with both a Hardboiled and Hitchcockian psychological approach. While he has written in other genres, his focus is in hardboiled mystery. David has also written stories in the genres of mystery, horror, and science fiction and also writes radio plays, screen plays, and graphic novel scripts.
As a martial artist, David is a Yodan (Fourth Degree Black Belt) in Tracy’s Kenpo. He began studying Kenpo when he was 10. Over the years he has studied and incorporated many combat arts into his personal style, but Kenpo remains his base. He is also a practitioner of Battōjutsu (a Japanese art of fast sword drawing and striking), has studied and is proficient in the bo staff, the cane, sai, tonfa, and many other weapons. When he was in his late twenties, he learned Olympic style fencing, Colonial time period style dueling, and tomahawk fighting/throwing while reenacting the French-Indian and American Revolution time. David brings his training and experiences to writing and the seminars he gives on these related topics.
Outside of these arts, David had a 27 year career in the health care industry, where he worked in various administrative areas including customer service, appeals, paralegal work, and compliance.
He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, A Master’s Degree in Leadership and Management, and a certificate in paralegal studies. David is also an Eagle Scout with 6 palms, a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, is a former Scout Master (Scout Master’s key, District Award of Merit, Scout Master’s Award of Honor, Training Award, Wood Badge)
