The Guardians--A Military Science Fiction Novel

The Corvette Ranger has been dispatched on an anti-piracy and humanitarian aid mission to the Aitan star system.  The government of Aita is besieged by pirates and a group of radicals that came out of no where in the last three years.  While the Ranger is on convoy duty and fights off a coordinated pirate attack, a freighter carrying a special envoy and cargo from the Commonwealth is captured and held for ransom.  The Commonwealth will not deal with pirates and the Ranger must rescue the convoy and escape with the freighter.  Can the crew carry out their mission and discover the secret of Aita?
